Day #12: Sebastian-Palm Coast (122 miles- not by bike!)
This morning we slept in, before heading by car to the
Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral.
It was a really cool place, and we definitely learnt a lot. For example, apparently the world is pear shaped
and not round! Who knew…
We got to see a 3D IMAX movie which took you inside the international
space station, and explained how they set it all up. Then we saw a well done movie about the Atlantis
space shuttle, and then got to see it in person.
I went down a slide which was fun and meant to simulate what
it felt like being in the shuttle while it landed.
We walked through the Angry Birds exhibit
they had there which had games and a mirrored maze. I really just felt like wow, I’m too old for
this.
Later we stopped in Daytona Beach at a restaurant
recommended by my dad’s college roommate Steve, who besides being a great guy
has never made a bad restaurant recommendation in his life. The Jerusalem Grill did not disappoint and
was really good.
It was nice being tourists for a day, and great to be in an
air-conditioned car that was traveling 70mph.
It was good timing too, because it was pouring rain for a good portion
of the day. There was also some really scary lightning.
Tomorrow we’re going to drive a little, return the rental
car, and then hopefully if were feeling up to it, get back on the Adventure
Cycling trail.
Thanks for coming along for the ride!
